SAVE CEDAR MOUNTAIN.COM

CEDAR MOUNTAIN IS BY NO MEANS FULLY PROTECTED YET AND CONSTRUCTION COULD BEGIN AT ANY TIME!

Only a portion of Cedar Mountain (the Marcap parcel) has been successfully preserved at this time. While we still marvel at this magnificent accomplishment, we realize that there is yet another mountain to climb; and that is to save the other half called the Balf Property. To allow construction would make it seem as though the Town and State were allowing a Corporation with no ties to the community to benefit financially at the resident and taxpayers' expense. The homes will surely be advertised as "bordering protected areas" and premium pricing will be applied.

Beneath this heading is a copy of a recent comment posted on savecedar.com. There is a trap rock ridge line in Bethel, Ct. that is almost identical to Newington Cedar Mountain. The warning notice below accompanied by the futuristic fictional photo bring to light the potential risk to wildlife. "The images of "The Summit at Bethel" are being shown as a reminder as to why we stay the course of trying to protect the entire Cedar Mountain. "The Summit" is an actual work in progress.

THE BALF PROPERTY (WHICH SPANS FROM THE WATER TOWER TO CEDARCREST HOSPITAL FACING RUSSELL ROAD) IS SIMILAR IN ITS GEOGRAPHICAL LAYOUT TO THE IMAGE BELOW:

Congrats to all the people that have invested the time and effort to stopping this project. We in Bethel are now dealing with “The Summit @ Bethel” project being constructed by Toll Bro’s. They have clear cut a once pristine ridgeline and have actually changed the topography of the ridgeline with a extensive mining operation that has been going on for three years now. This project is in direct violation of the towns 2007 land use charter. Currently I am trying to get answers to see if Toll Bro’s will be mandated to replant the trees that they cut down.
I would encourage everyone fighting to save Cedar Mountain to come and visit Bethel and the “Summit” project to see the damage that has been done.
KEEP UP THE GOOD FIGHT !
